Saturday 19th November Macrolink and Landream launched Sydney's premier residential development on Circular Quay - Opera Residences.
After overwhelming demand in the lead up to Saturday's VIP launch, leading agents CBRE successfully sold all apartments, including the remaining sub penthouse for $16m and the final remaining penthouse for $27m - both to local Sydney buyers in CBRE's VIP database.
The $27m penthouse sale price broke the record for the highest priced penthouse sold in Australia set just a few days before by the same development's pre-launch sale of a penthouse for $26m.
This represents in excess of $95,000 per sqm - also an Australian record for an apartment.
Saturday resulted in over $500m worth of real estate sold.
CBRE Residential Director Tim Rees said the result was nothing short of phenomenal with the demand overwhelming for a super premium product in the northern CBD.
"There has been unprecedented demand for Opera Residences' super premium apartments and this launch was the last opportunity to purchase a brand new apartment on Bennelong Point, said Mr Rees.
"Bennelong Point is regarded as the pinnacle of residential locations and with the neighbours being National icons and the harbour itself, it's easy to understand why,” he added.
Appointments commenced from 8:30am with many VIPs arriving ahead of time to secure their desired apartment.
Buyers were predominantly local owner-occupiers looking to purchase a city apartment in an unbeatable location. Today's results highlight the underlying demand for the prestigious location along Macquarie Street and the lack of new supply for super premium apartments in Sydney's Northern CBD.
